8 Weeks



How far along? 
8 weeks. I am willing to call some of that bump-lette baby related, since I can now see it first thing in the morning instead of just at night ;)

How big is baby? 
The size of a raspberry. Mmmm, I could go for some raspberries.

Total weight gain?
 Still nothing. Confirmed at my appointment this week.

Maternity clothes?
 Nothing official yet. Still using the belly band on work pants and jeans.

Sleep?
I would like to sleep 12 hours a night. But I'll settle for 7-8 hours of uninterupted zzzzzs when possible.

Best moment of the week?
First prenatal appointment, though it was very uneventful. My midwife says she likes it that way. 

Food cravings?
 This baby wants Mexican! Last week, I had a burrito bowl and taco salad. This week, I made taquitos and quesadillas.

Food aversions?
 Not too many, honestly. Just a finicky appetite.

Symptoms?
 Tired tired tired. My skin is breaking out like I'm 14 again.

Movement?
 Nothing that I can feel, but apparently baby's appendages bend at the joints now.

Gender?
 I really have no idea. Not even an inkling.

What I’m looking forward to?
 I get an ultrasound next week! My midwife agreed with my dates, but she slyly said "if you're at all unsure, you can have a dating ultrasound next week." Wink, wink. I'll take it!

What I miss?
 Energy. Caffeine.

Weekly Wisdom?
Want to hide your bump? Carry your ipad in front of your tummy all day. I learned this from Princess Kate, who did it with her clutch purse. 

Milestones?
Ummm...I made it through another week without telling anyone? ;-)

7 Weeks



How far along? 
7 weeks. I have a blump ;-)

How big is baby? 
The size of a blueberry! Poppyseed to blueberry in 3 weeks - crazy!

Total weight gain?
 Zilch

Maternity clothes?
 The belly band has made a couple of appearances this week, but mostly I am just sticking to empire waist tops and dresses.

Sleep?
Not bad. Better after relegating the cat to the basement every night because his yowling was just getting out of hand. And I will not be woken up by a cat.

Best moment of the week?
Getting our vegetable garden planted - looking forward to homegrown veggies this summer! 

Food cravings?
 Taco salad

Food aversions?
 Still lunch meat, and I also find that many things are not appealing to me at the moment that I attempt to eat them. I'll eat a bite of something, and then I'm done because it's just not what I want.

Symptoms?
 Sooooooo tired! And if I get hungry, I definitely feel nauseous. Bras are fitting a little snugger too - that's not the worst thing ;)

Movement?
 I've read that baby's little paddle arms are flicking back and forth but of course I'm not feeling it!

Gender?
 Pink or blue, either will do!

What I’m looking forward to?
 Just a week until my first appointment with my midwife!

What I miss?
 Energy

Weekly Wisdom?
 If you are going to ride with your boss to a meeting, put something in your stomach first so you don't spend the whole ride willing yourself not to barf in her car.

Milestones?
Halfway through the first tri, does that count?

6 Weeks



How far along? 
6 weeks. The bloat continues.

How big is baby? 
The size of a pea. I don't know why but that seems huge to me!

Total weight gain?
 Nothing yet

Maternity clothes?
 Well. I can definitely say that by the end of the day my work pants and jeans are uncomfortable. I have already used the hair band trick to give me a bit of room and tomorrow, I am breaking out the belly band. 

Sleep?
 Better this week. I don't know what was up with last week, but it seems to have resolved itself for now.

Best moment of the week? 
Telling Mom and Dad G and my bro and sis-in-law over Mother's Day weekend!

Food cravings?
 Pickles (I know, so trite), hearty, filling foods like burgers. Bacon, definitely bacon.

Food aversions?
 Still lunch meat, and I also find that many things are not appealing to me at the moment that I attempt to eat them. I'll eat a bite of something, and then I'm done because it's just not what I want.

Symptoms?
 Very tired. I could nap every day if I had the opportunity. A few fleeting moments of queasiness that pass quickly. Bloated and gassy (sorry, it's the rather unpleasant truth).

Movement?
 Just gas bubbles ;)

Gender?
 Pink polos and pearls? More snakes and snails and puppy dog tails?

What I’m looking forward to?
 Having an actual baby bump as opposed to baby bloat

What I miss?
 Ok, ok, I admit it. I am missing wine this week. My parents made a delicious salmon dinner on Sunday and I was jonesing for a glass of white.

 OMG. Only 6 weeks?

It's always neat to celebrate Mother's Day with a baby in your belly

5 Weeks



How far along? 
5 weeks...and rockin' some major bloat

How big is baby? 
The size of an appleseed

Total weight gain?
 Nada

Maternity clothes?
 Definitely not, however I did pull out my tote of maternity clothes to start figuring out what I can use again. It will be a challenge, since I'll be at my largest in a totally different season than I was last time

Sleep?
 Not.Good. I think it's hormone-related, but I can't seem to stay asleep lately and it's 
really, really annoying

Best moment of the week? 
Finding a seamstress to custom-make my bridesmaid's dress for my bestie's wedding in December...when I'll be a whale ;) 

Food cravings?
 Carbs

Food aversions?
 Lunch meat...which isn't awful considering I really shouldn't be eating it anyway

Symptoms?
 A little more tired during the day, exhausted in the evening, still hungry

Movement?
 We’re a long way from that

Gender?
 Your guess is as good as ours. It's worth noting that Hubs' and I are both having
 "girl feelings" this week.

What I’m looking forward to?
 Telling Mom and Dad G for Mother's Day!

What I miss?
 A good night's sleep. But that is nothing new.

 In the first trimester, there are 300 years in a day

 Baby's heart starts beating this week!
